In 2019 iab Lab was approached by an existing client to convert an existing office to a Protein & Nucleic Acid-Based Therapeutics Research Lab. This was due to the success of the start-up company and the development of the laboratories. Which we designed and built for them in 2018. iab Lab was employed to redesign and modify the laboratory/office complex to provide additional and valuable laboratory space.  An earlier part of this phased work included a separate office build in an adjacent building.

The design brief was for the refit was to convert an existing open planned office, two smaller office and two meeting rooms into a main open plan laboratory. Which would be home to two Class 2 Bio-Safety Cabinets and then four smaller labs. Two of these labs would be used for tissue culture each would contact a Class 2 Bio-Safety Cabinet, Tall Fridge and CO2 Incubator. As well as a new storeroom with roller storage units.

We were able to modify the existing HVAC system, that was originally used for the office & meeting room, to supply the correct temperature controlled fresh air in all the new laboratories. We only need to add 1no. extra AC Unit with the ceiling void to do this.

Over the years our success has happened by maintaining good working relationships with past clients and individuals.  As part of Iab Lab’s progression, the business has invested and developed quality systems to achieve ISO9001 accreditation.  This project together with the initial laboratory built-in 2018 demonstrates an awareness and a professionalism to deliver quality/well-designed projects tailored to suit individual client requirements.
