A turnkey hair care testing laboratory refurbishment was recently successfully completed for iab’s new client Innospec. The project was sent to us to tender approximately 12 months ago and after the go ahead was given, a meeting was organised with the end user to ensure that we had interpreted all their ideas and covered all their needs correctly. After opting to use a plinth mounted design, the client and ourselves thought it was best suited to use a two tier island shelving design to maximise storage in the new laboratory – this was a key factor for the client. The colours in the laboratory were carefully selected to be as close to the original design as possible, as the previously used are the corporate company colours and are used across the rest of their labs. To maximise the use of space throughout the lab we were required to remove 2no walk in fume cupboards and 3no standard fume cupboards. A special request by the client was made for the ability to shower mannequin heads, therefore our solution for this was to install a domestic shower above one of the installed sinks.
