I have to say that all the IAB staff I have encountered have been a pleasure to work with. The can-do attitude and the sense of service to the customer runs right through the company from the CEO down – it is also clearly present in their contractors as well. IAB provide good old-fashioned service while maintaining the technical edge to provide a modern build.
IAB are a family firm and it was clear that establishing a close working relationship right from the start was a priority for them. They really wanted to understand the needs of the customer and the scope of the work as quickly as possible.
Iab- lab completed a facility fit out for us in April 2018 (5800 sq ft of Offices and Labs – 9 week fit out schedule). The fit out was completed on time and on budget. I have found the team professional in all aspects of the project from initial design to construction and delivery. This is the second project that I have worked with Iab on having worked with then over the last 17 years. They fitted out a BSL 2 facility for BioVex on Milton Park which was handed over on time and on budget in 2001. IAB continued to maintain the facility (HVAC etc.) until the company was bought out by Amgen in 2011. In 2012 / 2013 IAB was approved by Amgen to make upgrades to the facility, reconfiguring Labs, installing back up power etc. to meet GMP standards which were subsequently audited and approved by the FDA and MHRA. They have a consistent team of skilled contractors that maintain a high standard of workmanship. I have always been impressed with the quality and durability of the Labs designed and fitted out by IAB. I would have no issues in recommending IAB.
We started working with iab in 1999, when we approached them to help move my business from our small incubator laboratory. The first laboratory they fitted out for us was a complete turnkey laboratory refurbishment. Iab worked with us to understand all our needs. This lab is still in use today and is standing the test of time. Since the first project back in 1999 we have returned to them for around 10 projects and for our yearly maintenance contact. They work very close with us and make sure every detail is covered. In 2013 I sold the business and have since set up a new business. As iab had provide me with a great service over the years I approached them again, this time just for a small start-up lab. Again they completed the project with professionalism and care they do on all projects regardless of size.
iab have been essential to achieving our project goal of building a new laboratory at Swansea University and have behaved in an exemplary manner throughout the process, working extremely diligently and innovatively with our laboratory team within a tight timeframe to develop a design which met our budget requirements, provided future proofing and was of the highest quality.
Throughout the build iab met all build deadlines and where issues arose outside of their control, the team worked tirelessly to resolve the issues, again providing many original solutions and designs until resolution was achieved, whilst also revising other aspects of build schedule to minimise delays.

Over the years iab have completed a good number of projects for myself from complete turnkey laboratory refurbishments of various sizes to minor modifications of existing areas. I only started working with iab in 2011 but in this time iab have looked after myself and Alere’s needs. Having iab to call on is a comfort blanket that any facilities manager would be happy to have.
